Super Tiger News

The new school year is officially underway, and every day is a great day to be a Tiger!

Monday morning, following a breakfast provided by the Dulin Foundation, teachers and staff gathered for the first of three days of professional development for our faculty and staff.  We kicked off the day with a district-wide general session that included updates and information to allow every faculty member, instructional assistant, and staff member to begin the new year on the same page. Tuesday and Wednesday were filled with training plus Meet the Teacher days which are also so fun and a bit overwhelming for everyone.

We will welcome our students on Thursday, August 4 for the first day of instruction, and we are excited to see how much they have grown over the summer.  It is going to be a great year!

Athletics and Arts

The community is invited to the annual Meet the Tigers at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 12.  We hope you come and show your support for our many student athletes.  Admission is $5.00.  All of the Tiger teams for the 2022-23 school year will be introduced.

The Tigers Volleyball team will begin their season with a pair of home matches on the 8th and 11th of August at Knox Gym.  Admission will be $7.00.

The Tiger Football team will kick off the season at Oxford in a jamboree game against Senatobia at 4:00 on August 19th.   We look forward to all our faithful Tiger fans supporting all our fall sports.

The Tiger Cheerleaders are now selling advertising for the 2022 Tiger Football Program.  Prices range from $35 for a quarter page advertisement to $125 for a full-page color advertisement.   For more information, contact a member of the cheerleading team or call sponsor Deanna Lowery at 662-283-1244 and leave a message.  Deadline for advertising sales is August 12.

The WHS Band is selling raffle tickets for a $500 gas card. The drawing will be held on August 12th. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased from any band member.

 Transportation

Traffic is sure to be hectic for the first couple of weeks as we get back into our routines.  Please be patient and refrain from using your cellphone while driving and while in the drop off/pick up lines at the schools.

Elementary students should wear their lanyards each day. This helps the bus drivers and car-rider monitors know where the students should go at the end of the day.

Child Nutrition

Meal applications are available online and should be completed by every student’s family.  All students will receive free breakfast and lunch this school year, but the meal application information may give the district and families additional opportunities and benefits.

Buildings

Winona Elementary School renovations continue.  Our old HVAC units will be staying in place just a little longer as we wait for production of the new units which are scheduled to arrive mid-October.  So many classrooms and hallways at WES got a fresh coat of paint this summer.  A special thanks to the WES PTO for helping with the painting project.

The second Board meeting of the year will be Tuesday, August 9 at 6 p.m.

Thank you for your continued support of all things WMCSD.  We are looking forward to a positively awesome school year!
