Tiger with mouth open

Winona-Montgomery Consolidated School District (WMCSD) is pleased to announce a partnership with Mississippi Action for Progress, Inc. Central District HeadStart.  WMCSD Superintendent Dr. Teresa Jackson, Winona Elementary administrators, and MAP Inc. program leaders have been working together to develop a partnership plan that is most beneficial to the students and families served at the Winona Elementary School location.

Students in Winona Elementary School’s two PreK classes and BOOST class will be fully supported by both the current WES teachers and instructional assistants and two additional HeadStart-funded assistant teachers and a Family Community Worker. This is exciting news for our littlest Tigers!

This partnership will provide individualized educational services to PreK students ensuring that they will grow in all aspects of their development. Some of the benefits of the district partnering with HeadStart include:

  • Expanding families’ access to a high quality full-day preschool program.
  • Sharing financial resources and early learning expertise.
  • Providing health and developmental screenings to all children.
  • Providing services at no cost to families.

Students enrolled in the PreK program at Winona Elementary School will need to complete enrollment for both WES and HeadStart.  Students who have already registered with the school will need to bring documents showing household income in order to complete registration and take advantage of the benefits of this partnership.  This documentation should include 2020 W-2 forms and statements for TANIF, SSI, Child Support, etc.  All information will be kept confidential.  For more information, you may call the school at (662) 283-4129 or HeadStart at (662) 212-5289.

WMCSD and MAP HeadStart agree that partnerships make our communities and education systems stronger!  We are TIGERStrong!
