It’s a Great Day to be a Tiger!  

The ”Tigers of the Golden Age of Greece” Homecoming Week was a huge success!  Thank you to everyone that had any part in making this an awesome week for students, staff, fans, and families. The memories made will last a lifetime. Hear us roar!

Congratulations to 2022 WHS Homecoming Queen Molly Tompkins.  The homecoming court was a great representation of ladies from every class at WHS.  The PowerPuff game, tailgating, pep rallies, and dress up days were all part of the week’s special events and activities.  Check out our pictures on the WMCSD, WCTC, and WHS Tiger Paw Facebook pages.

Your Winona Tiger football team defeated Amanda Elzy and look forward to the next game at home against Ruleville.  IMPORTANT GAME INFORMATION: The football game will be played on Thursday night, October 27th. The theme for this football gameday is “Just Do It.”  This will be this night that we recognize our seniors who participate in Football, Cheer, Dance and Band. Senior Night will be at 6:30pm prior to the game. 

Basketball got started with week with junior high games on October 24th.  Come out and support the Tigers on Thursday the 28th when they take on the Choctaw County Chargers at 5:00pm at JJ Knox Gym.  The Cross Country Team will host the regional meet on October 27th at the Winona Recreational Park.  

In WSS News, juniors and seniors will participate in a college fair on Tuesday, October 25th.  That night at 6:00pm there will be an interest/informational meeting about a trip to Europe in Ms. Hamilton’s classroom.  On Wednesday, the seniors will meet with Balfour representatives about graduation invitations.

On Friday, October 28th there will be a Softball/Baseball Players vs. Teachers Game: Slow Pitch game played at 5:00 p.m. at the softball field. Admission is $3.00 for faculty and students and $5.00 for the public.  

This week is Red Ribbon Week.  On Monday, students wore crazy socks.  Tuesday was Red Day and 5th grade students participated in an anti-vaping program during their activity classes, and Wednesday was Shades Day.  The Winona Elementary PTO Halloween Fun Run is coming up this weekend on the 29th.  Registration will be at 9:00 at WHS. All ages are invited to participate. The PTO is also hosting a Fall Festival on November 12th. For more information, check out the WES PTO Facebook page or contact the school office.

WES will be celebrating all things fall during their Octoberfest event on October 31st.  Students will travel throughout the building to trunk or treat with WES supporters.

There will be a special-called WMCSD Board meeting on Thursday, October 26th at 6:00pm to approve the WSS construction project among other items.  The next regular meeting of the WMCSD Board is November 8th at 6:00pm at the Superintendent’s Office.
