Tiger with mouth open

Greetings from Winona-Montgomery Consolidated School District!  Even though school buildings are closed and spring events are cancelled, there are still lots of things going on for WMCSD students and staff.  We are working hard to gather information so we can plan for the summer and next school year, celebrate our seniors, and improve our professional practice as educators.

 Family Digital Learning Readiness Survey

We need YOU!  We need every WMCSD parent, especially parents who represent students who don’t have the computers or internet necessary for at-home learning, to complete this survey.  You can find this link on our website at winonamontgomerycsd.com or our Facebook page -  https://forms.gle/KCJaw3X1EdeihGFR8.

The survey is short and can be completed on a cell phone, iPad, or computer.  The survey focuses on devices at home, home internet access, and the quality/reliability of that connection.  The results will be compiled by WMCSD and sent to the Mississippi Department of Education who will share the information with the Governor's office for planning purposes.

Winona Secondary School’s Class of 2020

We are so proud of our senior class.  Each member of this class has so much promise and is sure to add lots of accomplishments to his or her resume in the upcoming years.  One of the ways we are celebrating our senior class is by giving each graduate a yard sign to proudly display at his or her home.  The signs are personalized with the graduate's name and include the Tiger logo and “2020 WHS Senior.”

On Friday, May 1, the seniors showed off their social distancing skills in a drive-thru pick up to receive packets including their yard signs, a “WHS Class of 2020 Quarantined” t-shirt, and information regarding graduation plans.  We cannot wait to see these students in their caps and gowns on May 23 as we celebrate the successes of their K-12 careers.

Winona Elementary News

On May 16, May 30, and June 13, WES teachers will participate in professional development sessions which we call “Saturday Academy.” Thirty teachers who signed up ahead of time will participate in the virtual sessions from 8:00am-12:00pm. Teachers are working together and with math and language arts specialists to prepare lessons that can be taught online through Google Classroom and in a traditional classroom setting.

Winona Elementary teachers will also participate in training on new programs that will be available to students in the 2020-2021 school year. Some of the programs include: Raz-Plus, Study Island and Freckle. Teachers have selected these programs in order to provide both web-based learning and in class instruction for students in all subjects.

Don’t forget!  WMCSD teachers prepare at-home learning packets and update the online resources page weekly.  You can use these packets and access these resources at any time by clicking on the links on our district webpage.

We are here for you and would love to hear from you if you have questions or concerns.  All you have to do is send us a message on the COVID-19 email hotline at tigertalk@winonaschools.net
