WES Principal Tabitha McCrory and WMCSD Nikita Jones-Smith recently presented at The Mill Conference Center at Mississippi State University for the Office of School Improvement Convening. Their presentation, "Professional Learning with Saturday Academy: Improving Collaboration Between General Education and Exceptional Education Teachers to Improve Student Achievement" focused on the initiative the team has led for the past five years at Winona Elementary School. The session was filled to capacity and attendees left armed with instructional practices that directly impact student achievement. Saturday Academy provides professional learning for gerneral education and exceptional education teachers to promote improvement in instructional practices to increase student learning and performance on MAAP assessments specifically for struggling learners.
