Super Tiger News

It’s a Great Day to be a Tiger!

What a great few weeks it has been in WMCSD!  Our students are doing outstanding work under the direction of their teachers.  Check out our website and social media pages for a glimpse of what awesome teaching and learning looks like.  These kids are doing great things!

Students in the Visions classes at WES are working together to make “Tiger Talk” videos each week. Visions is the intellectually gifted education class at WES.  Under the direction of Visions teacher, Mrs. Amber Austin, students are interviewing coaches, players, and teachers and producing a weekly news-type video. You can check out their work on the WMCSD Facebook page.  Be sure to send them positive comments about the videos.

  2. All students 14 or younger must be accompanied by an adult over 21.
  3. Re-entry to the stadium will not be permitted.

Students in grades preK-12 are showing support of our student athletes by participating in Tiger Spirit Fridays this year. On Friday, September 2, the Tigers will be “Out of this World” wearing their best space attire.  We are hoping you will go ahead now and prepare for September 9th when we will celebrate first responders by wearing red, white and blue.

The WHS Volleyball team will return to action on September 2, with a trip to Noxapater.  Games will begin at 4:30pm. They will also play a district matchup at Yazoo County on September 6th.  Games on the 6th will begin at 5:00pm.

The Cross Country Team had a good showing at Eupora last Saturday and will not return to action until September 10th at French Camp.

Remember that all Tiger sports at Tiger Field and Knox Gym can be watched on the NFHS network with a subscription.  Go to https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/ to log on and support the Tigers!  You can create a free account, search for Winona High School, Winona, MS, and follow the Tigers, or you can subscribe so you can view all paid events.  The pep rally on Friday, September 2nd at 2:20pm will be free to view on the NFHS network.

Construction Update All the restrooms at Winona Elementary School should be substantially complete by the first week in September.  We have lots of little touch ups to complete as with any renovation project.  The HVAC units are projected to be here mid-October.  This delay is the new normal since the COVID shutdowns.  We appreciate everyone’s patience - especially the students and teachers!

The next regular meeting of the WMCSD Board is September 13th at 6:00 pm at the  Superintendent’s Office.

The Power of Positivity is evident in WMCSD!
