Super Tiger News

It’s a Great Day to be a Tiger!

Meet the Tigers was a great success!  The students who participate in sports and activities were excited to show their Tiger spirit.  The field at Tiger Stadium looked great, and the new light bulbs definitely made the playing field brighter. Thank you to our maintenance staff with ABM for going the extra mile to get those light bulbs exchanged and units cleaned.

If you haven’t joined the WES PTO, WHS Athletic Boosters, or The Winona Pride Band Boosters, please consider doing so today.  It takes a lot of volunteers to conduct athletic and artist events for our students.

The WES PTO held its first meeting of the year on Monday, August 15th at 5:30 in the library.  All meetings will be placed on the monthly calendar that is sent home with students.  We are so thankful that PTO hired a painter to paint the lower elementary pods.  They look fantastic! The PTO is planning on a beautification project for the picnic area, and we look forward to seeing what they will accomplish.

The Athletic Boosters have customizable yard signs available for all WMCSD extracurriculars for $40 each.  These signs look fantastic!  Please see Amber Austin for more information, or call 662-283-3631.

Transportation has purchased six buses in the past four years.  We are proud to expand our fleet to meet the needs of our students.  If you are interested in driving a bus, please contact Transportation Director Jeff Davis for more information.

According to WMCSD Business Manager Amanda Gray, the budget for fiscal year 2022-2023 was presented and approved at the August 9, 2022, Regular Board Meeting.  There will be no tax increase due to the Montgomery County millage rate increase which benefited the district with an additional $36,000.00 for the 2022-2023 fiscal year.  The WMCSD FY23 Budget will be published in The Winona Times this week.

16th Section Manager Lynea Watson shared that WMCSD has eight (8) 16th Section property leases that will be up for bids beginning in September 2022 and concluding in December 2022 for both agricultural and hunting leases.   All public notices for 16th Section bids can be found in The Winona Times in the coming weeks.
