Tiger with mouth open

It’s a Great Day to be a Tiger!

ACADEMIC PROGRAMMING What a busy month December has been!  We are looking forward to Christmas holidays for a much needed break and time with our families and friends.  We will certainly miss our students and hope they enjoy the time off from school and return safely on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.  Faculty and staff will return on Monday, January 3rd for professional development.

OPERATIONS We are excited to start the roofing project at JJ Knox Gym.  This is a much needed capital improvement project that will provide the gym with a new roof including energy-saving insulation.  On Tuesday, December 14th bids were opened for a renovation project at Winona Elementary School that includes replacing all the HVAC units and restroom renovations and additions.  The board accepted the lowest bid for the project at the December meeting.  We look forward to sharing more information and updates as they become available.

COMMUNICATIONS Don’t forget about our email hotline at tigertalk@winonaschools.net and our website at winonamontgomerycsd.com.  We encourage you to download our app on your cell phone and to sign up for ActiveParent if you have a child in school.

HEALTH AND SAFETY We continue to have a few cases of COVID-19 along with the flu, stomach virus, common colds, allergies, and anything else you can think of, but we are able to attend school full time in a face-to-face setting.  We are certainly thankful for that and appreciate all the precautions our students and their families take to keep all of our Tigers healthy and safe.  Masks continue to be recommended, but not required.

TECHNOLOGY Parents and grandparents know that they have to stay involved with their children’s use of technology.  Although the internet opens up a world of educational information for students, it is vitally important that we protect our students from potential dangers.  Please monitor your children’s online activities while out for the holidays, or better yet, limit screen time by providing activities that do not involve devices.
