Academic Programming Students and teachers are working hard to finish out the first semester of the school year strong. We have two and a half weeks until Christmas Holidays which will be observed December 20-24 and December 27-31. Staff will return on January 3, 2022, and students will return on January 4. We encourage our students to continue to work hard and stay focused during the holiday season when there are so many distractions. Benchmarks assessments for tested areas will be given December 13 through 17. These assessments will give teachers valuable information about student progress and needs.
Winona Elementary teachers will be participating in a Saturday Academy to develop Social Emotional Learning (SEL) plans on December 4th from 8:00am-12:00pm.
Operations The Winona Pride Band will be performing in the Winona Christmas Parade on December 6th at 7:00pm. The WSS Choir Christmas program is December 14th at 6:30pm in the WSS auditorium. Basketball and soccer games are on the calendar at winonamontgomerycsd.com.
Exceptional Education News WMCSD prioritizes and values early childhood education. We partner with the Mississippi Department of Health and the First Steps program. First Steps EIP is a program that matches the unique needs of infants and toddlers who have developmental delays, or a birth condition that could cause a developmental delay, with Early Intervention services and resources within the community. If you have a child that is under three years old, First Steps may provide developmental services and other resources to help your child meet his or her maximum potential. Services provided include (but are not limited to): screenings, evaluations and assessments, Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs), Early Intervention services, and transition plans to preschool services under Part B of IDEA, or other programs.
