In regard to the threat of possible violence at Winona Secondary School on Thursday, March 9, 2023, the WMCSD Police Department has identified the person associated with the threat. No incident occurred at any WMCSD campus.
Students will attend classes as scheduled on Friday, March 10. Spring Break will be observed March 13-17. Staff and students will return on Monday, March 20, 2023.
The disruption this event caused to our schools and community was inexcusable. WMCSD plans to pursue all avenues of prosecution of the person responsible as it caused an extraordinary amount of stress for our students, faculty, staff, families, and community.
WMCSD would like to thank our own School Resource Officers as well as the Mississippi Office of Homeland Security, Winona Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and the Montgomery County EOC.
