Mrs. Kelli Coburn’s 10th grade ELA students took a trip across the world through literature as they read “By Any Other Name” by Santha Rama Rau! 🌎📖

As they explored the memoir, students analyzed the author’s point of view and examined the cultural differences and challenges she experienced in British-ruled India.

Lessons like this remind our Tigers that reading is about more than words on a page—it’s an opportunity to experience different cultures, understand new perspectives, and see the world through someone else’s eyes! ❤️🖤

✈️🇺🇸 CAREER EXPLORATION TAKES FLIGHT AT WHS! 🇺🇸✈️

Dr. Alainey Hughes’ College & Career Readiness (CCR) classes and Career Coach Kelli Blaylock at Winona High School welcomed United States Air Force Recruiter Staff Sergeant Campbell on August 27!

Staff Sergeant Campbell shared valuable information with our Tigers about:

✈️ Qualifications needed to join the U.S. Air Force
💪 What to expect during basic training
🏠 Benefits such as healthcare and housing
⚖️ Work/life balance
🛠️ Career opportunities and on-the-job training available through the Air Force

One of the most important messages he shared with our students was simple: No matter what you want to do after graduation—college, the workforce, or the military—MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A PLAN! 🎓💼🇺🇸

We appreciate Staff Sergeant Campbell taking the time to help our students learn more about the opportunities available to them as they begin planning for life after high school!

We’re excited to announce a new reason for our WHS Tigers to work hard, aim high, and take ownership of their grades! ❤️🖤📚

Marshea Unique Creation has graciously partnered with WHS to recognize and reward outstanding academic achievement!

🏆 At the end of each nine weeks, the TWO students in each grade level with the highest overall academic average across ALL of their classes will be recognized.

Each of these students will receive a TIGER BUCK that can be redeemed for a FREE spirit shirt from Marshea Unique Creation! 👕🐯

That means EIGHT Tigers will be rewarded each nine weeks:

📚 2 students from 9th grade
📚 2 students from 10th grade

SFC Justin Clark and PFC Jakavious Sanders visited Dr. Alainey Hughes’s College and Career Readiness classes today to share valuable information about the Mississippi Army National Guard and the many benefits and opportunities it offers.

Our Tiger Cross Country Team hit the course for their first meet of the season Saturday at South Panola! ❤️🖤.
