Tiger with mouth open

It’s a Great Day to be a Tiger!

This week’s Tiger Spirit Friday theme is “Twin Day!!”  Next week is “Can’t Stop that Tiger Glow!” - Neon Day.

Your WHS Tiger Football Team will be playing this Friday night at Water Valley High School.  Game time is 7:30pm and tickets are available on GoFan.  See the WMCSD Facebook page for a link for tickets.  Don’t forget to take a pic of your favorite game moment and enter it in the McDonald’s Spotlight competition and earn money for WHS.  All you have to do is take a picture of a favorite moment at the game and share it with #mcdonaldsspotlight.

The WJHS Football team will be playing on September 26th at Eupora with games beginning at 5:00pm. The WHS Volleyball team will be in action on Thursday September 22, at Greenwood High School vs Amanda Elzy at 5:00pm.  The VolleyTigers will be at Home versus Grenada on September 27th beginning at 4:00pm.  The Tigers Cross Country team will be off until the next meet on October 6th.

Coming up on October 1st, the WHS Pride Band will be in action at the Copiah Marching Festival at Copiah Academy.

Construction Updates:  Hopefully, all student restrooms at Winona Elementary will be completed by the end of September.  HVAC units which were supposed to be here by October 17th have been pushed back to November by the supplier.  According to our contractor and architect, this is not unusual since the shutdowns due to COVID.  We are excited to share that  planning meetings have begun for the Winona Secondary construction project, and we are looking forward to getting started on much-needed improvements on the WSS and WCTC campuses.

Independent Living - Preparing for independent living is an exciting time in any youth's journey towards adulthood. For youth with disabilities and their families this is a time filled with questions and challenges. Join us as we explore a skills checklist to help parents and youth know where they are and what they need to work on in their journey to independent living. We will talk about the importance of self-advocacy, what families/parents can do to help youth and young adults with planning for the future. The training will be offered by the MS Parent Resource Center on September 22, 10:00am - 11:00am. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER.

The next regular meeting of the WMCSD Board is October 11th at 6:00 pm at the Superintendent’s Office.
