Welcome from the Principal

It is with great pride and excitement that I serve as Principal of Winona Junior High School. I am honored to lead a school filled with talented students, dedicated educators, supportive families, and a community that truly cares about the success of our children.

I am beginning my 14th year in education and my fifth year in educational leadership. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to serve students as a classroom teacher, special education interventionist, assistant principal, and principal. Each of those experiences has shaped the way I lead today and strengthened my belief that every student deserves to be challenged academically, supported emotionally, and known personally.

I earned my master's degree in Elementary Education and later completed my Specialist's Degree in Educational Leadership at Delta State University, where I was honored to be recognized as the top student in the College of Education program. While I am proud of those accomplishments, the work that matters most to me happens each day in our classrooms, hallways, and conversations with students, staff, and families.

My philosophy of leadership is simple: leadership is about service. I believe my responsibility as principal is not only to establish high expectations, but also to ensure that our teachers have the support they need, our students have opportunities to succeed, and our families feel welcomed and valued as partners in the educational process.

At Winona Junior High School, we are committed to creating an environment where students feel safe, valued, respected, and challenged to reach their full potential. Academic achievement is a priority, but our responsibility extends beyond academics. The junior high years are an important time of growth and transition as students begin developing greater independence, responsibility, confidence, and a stronger sense of who they are. Our job is to guide them through that journey while preparing them for the expectations and opportunities that lie ahead.

I also believe strongly in the power of relationships. Students are most successful when schools and families work together. I encourage parents and guardians to remain actively involved in their child's education and to communicate with us. Your questions, ideas, concerns, and encouragement matter, and I want you to know that your voice is valued.

As principal, I believe in being present. You will find me in classrooms, in our hallways, at school events, talking with students, supporting teachers, celebrating successes, and continually looking for ways we can make our school stronger.

I am incredibly excited about what we are building at Winona Junior High School and grateful for the opportunity to serve this school community.
