  • All activities and work packets are suggested.
  • The activities/booklets will provide our students with practice to help maintain what they have already learned.  WMCSD students have worked so hard during the first 3 nine weeks. We want to help them retain all the things they have learned.
  • No work will be collected or graded.
  • Will not be used to determine promotion/retention.

What Parents Need to Know

Although kids are at school for 8 hours a day, not every minute is spent working on school work.  We have time built in for breakfast, lunch, recess, class changes, and extracurricular activities.  So pace yourselves. A good guide is:

  • Reading - 30 minutes for elementary to 45 minutes for secondary
  • Language - 30 minutes for elementary to 45 minutes for secondary
  • Math - 30 minutes for elementary to 45 minutes for secondary
  • Science - can be included with Reading.  Experiments are fun! Do it, write about it!
  • Social Studies - can be included in Reading.  Read about it, write about it!
  • Creative Classes - arts and crafts, music, dance, foreign language, etc.

More Info about the MDE Resources

The MDE learning-at-home webpages will be updated periodically with additional resources.

Additionally, you will find valuable resources on the MDE Parent Resources page at https://mek12.org/OAE/OEER/ResourceParents.

The learning-at-home resources do not replace what children have learned at school, but instead help students practice the skills and strategies taught by their teachers. The resources are intended to help parents and caregivers engage students in continued education.

Resources include learning activities, example videos and digital resources that support the Mississippi College-and Career-Readiness Standards to continue and reinforce children’s education.

MDE content specialists have selected all resources, which include dedicated webpages for students in pre-K-grade 1, grades 2-3, grades 4-5, grades 6-8 and grades 9-12. Also, resources for students with visual or hearing impairments are available and guidance on social emotional learning.
